I opened my mini studio once again for fundraising purposes (to fundraise for my dream studio). That day was loads of fun, as I got to photograph more dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. Here are some of my favorites from that day's mini session. Thank you to everyone who contributed and I cannot wait to have another one soon.

This family of 6 was loads of fun, nobody would stay in the same place- which had me chasing the kids all over the park. Happily, that is. They're an amazing family and the photos of them is a true reflection of their beauty.
This family is moving, hundreds of miles away, from me. Sighs. It was a bittersweet session. I've followed this family since she was in the womb. First it was a baby shower party, then a maternity session followed with a birth session. That did not stop there, we also did newborn session as well as monthly until she turned one. This session is also memorable because the parents surprised me in the best way possible. The mother said there was one more book she wanted Maddy to read. The book was inside a manila and I assumed that it meant it was a favorite of Maddy's. I decided to focus on Maddy's expressions by having my lens tight on her face. As the book was being given to Maddy, I took shots and immediately noticed the title of the book, "new baby." I jumped back and looked at the parents quickly, "whaaaaa?!!! OMG!! When are you due!!!!" It was just a perfect moment. The baby's due in February and I now have Indiana on my must-fly-to list. Thank you for two wonderful years and I (and my camera) will miss you guys.
We've been going to Avery to camp and swim at White Pines Lake every year for 3 years now. It's the best place for me to totally unwind as a mother and completely throw myself into photography. We had freak weather in Lake Tahoe area (hail) and in Yosemite (snow) that day. The lake is located in between those two places and all we got was a warm day with a cool breeze and heavy clouds, which made photography a dream.
My son joined me on a session to be my little assistant. The family I was doing was a family friend so, we didn't mind him tagging along. I love it that I can bring my kid(s) sometimes to sessions, especially when I could take in a shot or two for my personal pleasure.
I love this family and love the fact that the older siblings were able to watch the birth. It made the whole experience feel powerful. This mama texted me earlier that morning informing me she was at hospital and already at 5cm. I did not get her message as I had my phone turned off. Lucky for her, she and I have a same friend who contacted me and told me that the mama now at was 9.5 cm. She even rushed over and babysat my boys as I ran out the door. Lucky for me, this mama's husband was stuck at work so, the nurses slowed down the contractions. As soon as her husband arrived, the water broke and the baby came out 47 minutes later, in only like 3 pushes, I'm not kidding.
This little girl, L, was a toddler that definitely made this session fun. All she wanted to do was to explore and see what the park had to give. Lucky for her, I was fit enough to chase and capture her true personality: curious and observant.
The Cullen's wedding was at a perfect spot- on an edge of the woods at South Lake Tahoe. My favorite part of the session was when they had their first look. The Groom got emotional when seeing the Bride's dress for the first time. I love First Look sessions within a wedding gig.
I love it that I am getting more wedding gigs, because it is something I enjoy immensely. To be able to witness a time that is supposed to be the happiest moment in anyone's life. Also, wedding gigs, to me, give me opportunities to capture plenty of emotional candids as well as details. Here's a gig I did for the Dhuse wedding, they were seriously happy and their you could see that their guests were a big part of their lives.
This boy took his sweet time coming out even if he came few weeks early. I spent the night sleeping on the hospital's lobby couch. I was not going to take any chances as I missed two previous births due to clients dilating so fast after hitting 5cm (one went from 5cm to pushing the baby out within 40 minutes). It did not matter if I slept on the couch under the constant blowing air conditioner without anything to keep me warm, because the moment baby Nathan came to the world, it was so totally worth it. I also came back to the hospital to document Nathan meeting his two older brothers and followed up with a lifestyle newborn session a week later. I always feel so honored and deeply grateful when families hire me to be a part of a very special moment in their lives.
